Telstra Corporation (Telstra) is the dominant telecommunications and information services company in Australia. In 1992, it was known as the Australian and Overseas Telecommunications Corporation (AOTC), which was a merger between Telecom and the Overseas Telecommunications Commission (OTC). AOTC was renamed as Telstra in 1993.
The multitude of services offered by Telstra includes fixed line services, internet subscription, and mobile telecommunication services. Telstra owns 50% of FOXTEL, an Australian pay television company, to which it also provides cable distribution services.
Telstra has international businesses, such as the prominent mobile network operator in Hong Kong, CSL, and Telstra International, that has its headquarters in Hong Kong and businesses in Europe, North America and Asia.
Telstra also has search and advertising businesses in China.
